Slower Cognitive Decline in Pet Owners

A study found that older adults who own cats or dogs have slower cognitive decline than non-owners, even after controlling for age and health conditions. In addition, the study found that dog owners who walked their dogs had slower cognitive decline than those who did not. The researchers suggest that pets may provide social support and reduce stress, which could benefit brain health.
